-
Crafted of aircraft-grade aluminum, U-Tubes support your passengers’ feet and offer cargo support. They have great weather resistance, letting them shrug off the effects of sun, rain, and muddy boots. They work great for supporting cargo like bags of groceries, bricks, buckets of paint, you name it. They also make bike towing a breeze. U-Tubes can be adjusted to a wide and narrow setting. They are sold in pairs and attach with a bolt that goes through a boss on the bike or kit frame.
Please review the bike compatibility information below to ensure that these will fit on your bike.

Compatibility LT2 U-tubes WILL work on: 2018 EdgeRunners (Swoop/eSwoop/Classic/eClassic), 2016 EdgeRunners (with threaded bosses on the frame where the U-tube bolts insert) and Cargo Nodes.
LT2 U-tubes WILL work on the following bikes when used with an LT2 U-tube RetroFit Kit: pre-2016 EdgeRunner (with smooth holes that have no threads on the frame where the U-tube bolts insert), the FreeRadical conversion kit, Radish or Cargo Joe. However, LT2 U-tubes are not compatible with the Kickback 1. If your bike has the Kickback 1 you will need to change it for the Kickback 3 if you want to use the LT2 U-tubes.
LT2 U-tubes WILL NOT work on the following bikes (even with a RetroFit Kit): regular bikes, the Leap conversion kit (*see below), Yuba cargo bikes, Kona cargo bikes, Trek Transport, Surly Big Dummy, RadWagon cargo bikes, Tern GSD or any other cargo bike not mentioned as being compatible above.
*If you have a Leap, you will need Leap specific U-tubes.

Klemens –
Waht size are they? How much do they actually protrode from the sides of my Edgerunner when installed in the wide and the narrow setting?

Ashley –
Hey there, Klemens! The total vertical length of the U-tubes is 29.75″ from front to back. In the wide setting, the U-tubes will extend 5.25″ on each side from the frame towards the front and taper to 6″ out from the frame towards the tail end of the bike. In the narrow setting, the U-tubes will extend 4.5″ on each side from the frame towards the front and taper to 5.25″ out from the frame towards the tail end of the bike.

Roland Epple –
Hi there. I have the normal tubes for my surly big dummy. The canvas(?) is damaged and i want to buy some new one. Where can i get this?

Ashley –
Hey there, Roland! The best and easiest to acquire replacement hand rail padding would be regular bicycle handlebar tape which you can pick up at any local bike shop. Hope that helps!

Question
Greg –
What’s the difference between the U-Tubes Lt2 and the ones made for the Leap?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Ashley –
Hey there, Greg! The Leap U-tubes have a shorter rear insertion tube length since the Leap tail piece is not a continuous piece of tubing, like the tail piece on the EdgeRunners. While this article speaks to installing a side car, it has a pretty good explanation of how the Leap tailpiece is different. I hope this helps! https://xtracycle.helpscoutdocs.com/article/14-sidecar-modifications-for-a-leap-installation

kenji –
will these fit onto a Surly Big Easy as well?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Ashley –
Hey there, Kenji! We don’t have the ability to test these on a Big Easy so we are not sure if they will fit. We’d recommend reaching out to Surly to find out for sure. Sorry we can’t be of more help!

Admin Ashley –
Hey there, David! The Leap can definitely be used with hydraulic brakes, you will just need to supply your own, longer cable. As for the hub, we are not familiar with this one and I wasn’t able to find any details about that hub online. As long as it meets the compatibility guidelines, it should work. Rear dropout spacing is 135mm dropout type is open dropout (vertical, horizontal, or track end) for 10mm axle, with a flat area 20mm in diameter around outside of dropout. You can find more info about the requirements here: file:///home/chronos/u-6fb19175a814324da73521d6274b35931a34f91b/Downloads/Leap%20Compatibility%20Guide%20(1)%20(1).pdf
