Using the Yepp safety strap on your rear rack

The Yepp safety strap is required for use with the Yepp seat. If for some reason the seat clamp fails, this strap's purpose is to keep the seat attached to the bike long enough for you to notice something is amiss and to pull over.

We recommend attaching the safety strap to the rails of the rear rack. You can either attach to the strap in the front of the seat or behind it.

Attaching the strap to the rail in front of the seat will look like this:

The other option is to thread the security strap through the back of the seat. To do so, the strap will need to be guided to the side of the seat (see below). If it goes down the center, it will interfere with the clamps.

A few things to note:
  1. Secure the strap before tightening the Yepp seat, otherwise threading it back through is very difficult!
  2. When threading the strap towards the back, put the magic carpet in place before the Yepp seat to get it as close as possible.
  3. In the shop we use a wrench to tighten the Yepp, which is the easiest way to install it if you have one handy.
