Longtail Motion Pictures
These videos are both useful and informative, and most of them appeal to your sense of humor. We've grouped them together below to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Note that some videos may contain individuals riding longtail bikes without helmets. We are not against wearing helmets, but we do sometimes go helmet-free on camera. If you have thoughts for a video you'd like to see in the future - send your thoughts to info[at]xtracycle[dot]com.
What is an Xtracycle: Practical & Magical2 videos
A practical tool, for simple living
Riding an Xtracycle is great because it's just like riding a normal, short bike. Steer, turn and navigate just like you would an ordinary bicycle, but with all the benefits of large cargo and passenger capacity.
Riding is believing
It truly is a magical experience riding an Xtracycle. You'll put a smile on strangers' faces, feel liberated from your motorized cage and reawaken your youthful spirit as you cruise and carve on your longtail. Own and ride one and you'll quickly see why people say, "It's changed my life."

Footsies
The ability to carry passengers, comfortably, on an Xtracycle is one of its best features. Footsies provide a stable platform for your passenger's feet as you truck along, hummin', or singin', the same tune.
PeaPod LT
Carry your child, safe and secure, with PeaPod LT, our new child bicycle seat designed for your Xtracycle. Adjustable harness, footrests and seating position allows PeaPod LT to grow with your child. You also get a couple great accessories that you can use for the life of your longtail.
FreeLoaders
So much more useful than your free-loadin' college friends, FreeLoaders will swallow cargo, but will also tuck out of the way when not in use. Their sling and strap design make them flexible for a variety every day items like groceries, laundry, etc. They include a large inner pocket perfect for holding reusable grocery bags, pumps and rain gear. A zippered mesh pocket allows quick access for smaller items like your keys and multi-tool.
P-Racks + Pannier Kit
Like the concept of a longtail cargo bike, but don't want to ditch your exisiting panniers? Pannier Rack has a welded rail for attaching a wide variety of pannier bags to an Xtracycle. Two large panniers will fit on each rack. Use Whatchamacollars and you can run a one sided setup for the minimalists out there. Formerly known as Adventure Racks
Radish: Electrified
Radish, our first, custom designed complete longtail, is a great workhorse for every day tasks and adventure. But sometimes people need a little more 'oomph' in their ride and electric assist is the ticket for them. We test ride a Radish outfitted with a model by BionX.
Custom Big Dummy
Last spring, we offered Big Dummies custom powder coated in the color of your choice. Numerous expecting longtail owners took us up on the offer and now ride their one-of-a-kind Xtracycles with pride. Shown here is a Grapetallic Big Dummy getting built.

Steel Wheel Green Tour
Trent Wagler and Jay Lapp (Steel Wheel Duo), have been called "Shenandoah Valley's newest and finest songwriting force" by Blue Ridge Outdoors. This fall they took their force to the outdoors and piled their instruments, microphones, and few CDs on their bicycles for a 280 mile journey through the mountains of Virginia to play their Americana Roots music. Riding the Spine: Cordilleras Blancas
Riding the Spine finds an epic section of riding through Peru with over a half dozen 4,000+ meter passes, culminating at a 4,700 meter pass at the famous White Mountains. Landslides, rivers, indigenous vigilante forces, and aggressive bulls offered plenty of obstacles and excitement for the crew. Beautiful mountains with glaciers and small town bull fights provided priceless entertainment as they continue their bikepacking journey to the tip of South America. RTS Journal
Riding the Spine: Across Bolivia
Pavement ended shortly out of La Paz, and our "camino" just get kept getting smaller...and smaller. Crossed a tiny footbridge over a river and the route became nearly obselete. With the help of llama herders we were able to find our way across the vast expanses of the Bolivian altiplano, through sand dunes and tiny "puentitas" until we arrived at the Salar de Uyuni, where we could pedal for what seemed like forever on the rock hard crystal surface that expanded beyond the horizon. RTS Journal
Riding the Spine: Peruvian Andes
Mountains with 1,000+ meter climbs and descents. Landslides and floods force us to constantly take detours requiring us to carry our bikes and gear along exposed cliffs or just fight our way through knee deep mud. And elevations of 4,000 meters and above offer tremendously beautiful vistas. RTS Journal

Tow Truckin'

Claire Rides a Bike

Check out a short clip of the film crew filming on an Xtracycle.
Camping: Muir Headlands
A weekend camping excursion on Xtracycle longtail cargo bicycles. Started from Ferry Building in San Francisco and headed across the Golden Gate Bridge up into the Muir Headlands. Every day adventure, at it again.
Wacky Ways to Work
In honor of Bike to Work Day and the tough decision for some to begin commuting by bike, Xtracycle employees Nate, Madeline and Rick decided to try 'other' means of transporting themselves to work.
Unloadin' Time
Like the majority of the bicycle industry, we design our products in the United States and Taiwan carries out the production. That means big containers need to be shipped, especially with longtails like Radish in their bellies. This is the Xtracycle crew in time lapse, unloading a 40' container.
Xtra Finds: Proflex Mtn Bike
Another benefit of an Xtracycle is its ability to function as a pickup truck. Find a cool piece of furniture that would fit nicely in your house? Don't leave it behind, lash it to your longtail and cart it home. You'll find yourself evaluating curb side finds like you're living your own Antiques Roadshow.
