V-rack Locations
From Open Source LongTail Technology
The V-rack ports should be made with 25.4mm O.D tubing with a wall thickness of 1mm . There is a stop partway down the tube where the Boss Hog penetrates the tube, upon which the end of a V-Rack rests. Any object that stops the end of a 22.2mm tube will be acceptable, such as the water bottle braze-on used on the Big Dummy. The inside of the tube need not be coated, but weep holes to shed water are mandatory. The center-to-center distance of the tubes are vital to the fit of v-racks, and should be within 1mm of the stated dimensions. The parallelism of the tubes from front to rear is also vital, and should be within 2 degrees of each other (or within 1 degree of the stated angles on the plans, since the two tolerances add up.) Please note that the center-center dimensions are slightly different as measured in a side view versus the true center-center dimension. Additionally, the center-center of the v-rack tubes is different than the H-rack tubes. Mixing these up will become very confusing and frustrating.
