Xtracycle has chosen to share the 'source code' for our inter-compatible line of bases and accessories so that other manufacturers and designers like you may design to our standard. This shared-source relationship between us and you doesn't mean you are free to make and sell your own Free Radical like extensions, or independently claim that your product is 'LongTail Standard' compatible or Xtracycle Friendly. We act as the curators and stewards of this standard, and we determine which products merit the Xtracycle Friendly LongTail Design badge of approval.

In submitting my email address below as my digital signature, I agree to avail myself of the Xtracycle Shared Source documentation for non-commercial production of products. Any commercialized distribution of LongTail Standard based bikes or accessories must be authorized by Xtracycle Inc in writing. I agree not to distribute this source information (i.e. the content on these pages) without written permission from Xtracycle. Commercialization of the Long Tail Standard, use of the Xtracycle trademark without permission, or infringement of our patent is strictly forbidden.

I also agree to submit for review to Xtracycle any LongTail Standard Improvements I make, so that they might be added to the Standard. These LongTail Standard improvements will become public domain and Xtracycle or other parties may commercialize these improvements as part of future products. This agreement may be seen as a trade - Xtracycle invites you to innovate on our standard and we may innovate on your improvements. The potential commercialization opportunities run both ways - though Xtracycle reserves the right to restrict commercialization of products we feel compromise the quality or integrity of the Standard.

We invite your feedback on the LongTail Standard and participation in the development of LongTail specific Acc's (Accessories).
