In 1998, Xtracycle launched the FreeRadical bolt-on extension with a vision to change the world by making bicycles more practical, more enjoyable, and more fun than ever before.
And now, more than 15 years later, after creating a whole new market for cargo bikes in the United States, we know that the FreeRadical succeeded in its mission.
It's informed the design of our very own complete cargo bike, the EdgeRunner, which is a blast to ride, and countless other companies' cargo bikes too.
Building upon the success of the FreeRadical, we’re delighted to announce what’s next.
It’s the FreeRadical. Reinvented.
The Leap is the easiest way to convert your bicycle into an Xtracycle longtail cargo bike.
Its four core features:
- Designed to be super-strong and torsionally rigid, so it won't flex or break under heavy loads at any speed.
- Connects to almost all adult bikes, including bikes with rear wheel sizes of 24", 26", 700c, and 29+.
- Incredibly easy to install, with a secure mounting system that attaches firmly to the chainstays near the bottom bracket.
- Removable racks make it compatible with the vast majority of existing Xtracycle accessories.
An early Leap tester, Chris Nygaard, wrote: "All the details are well thought out, and there are no compromises. This is a worthy heir to the Xtracycle legacy, and an exceptional upgrade from the original design."
