Marin Novato 2007 S.U.B.
The Novato Sport Utility Bicycle is a sweet ride. Its crisp handling, 24 speeds, a light-weight aluminum frame, and durable wheels all add up to a high performance bicycle that will take you and your stuff on every adventure, every day. The 2007 Novato includes disc brakes and it's less expensive than the 2006 model. In our opinion, disc brakes are truly one of the most important advances in bike technology in the past 15 years. Aside from their unparalleled stopping power, they require far less maintenance than brakes of old. This bike is an awesome machine that's stacked with great components at an unbeatable price. Why not the 2008 Novato? As much as we dig the swervy top tube of the '08 Novato, the rear dropouts aren't compatible with the Xtracycle. The components are the same, and the price on the 2007 is competative. And we like the color of the '07 quite a bit.

Ride it with the included slick tires for road commutes and put knobbies on to change its character into a dirt eater.
It's bargain, too. Marin doesn't spend as much on marketing as many of its rivals and therefore is able to offer higher quality bikes at a lower price. Expect to spend $100-$150 more for a similarly spec'd bike from a big brand.
